Saint James Community Farm

2936 South Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL

The Saint James Community Farm was built in 2020 in partnership with Saint James Catholic Church & Food Pantry. It is a 1/2 acre space that produces over 10,000 pounds of fresh, culturally relevant fruits and vegetables annually. The community farm is a biodiverse green space that enables community members to grow and eat their own food , engage in dynamic, hands on educational programming, and build community through events and shared gathering space.

Community Driven

We work closely with our partners to ensure that we meet the needs of the community and support residents in thriving. The fruits and vegetables grown go directly back to the community through an affordable Community Supported Agriculture program, weekly Farm Stand, and continuous donations.

Learn and Grow

The farm serves as a healing environment for people to learn, grow, and engage with one another. Our educational programs equip community members with the knowledge, skills, and resources to grow their own food using sustainable practices, integrate healthier foods into their diet, and reduce waste.

"I love the holistic vision and practice of Just Roots — cultivating community, responding to food insecurity, sustaining the project with CSA subscriptions.... and bringing joy to so many in the process."
