SUSTAINABLE
FARMING

In partnership with community organizations, we operate sustainabe urban farms on Chicago’s south side, using organic practices to grow culturally relevant fruits and vegetables with and for our community.

Over the last four years, we have produced over 40,000 pounds of produce, with 50% going to local food pantries and the other 50% sold to Chicagoans through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and weekly farm stand. Interested in learning more about our CSA program? Click here

COMMUNITY

Each farm that we operate builds community through shared gathering space, community events, and good food!

OUR STORY

Just Roots Chicago began its journey in the Fall of 2017, when the co-founders began to work together with their local community to develop access to sustainably grown food. After four years of operation, Just Roots has grown over 40,000 lbs of culturally relevant produce and provided educational programming to over 2,000 student and adult learners.

In 2020, Just Roots partnered with Saint James Church & Food Pantry to build out a new community farm at 29th and Wabash.

In 2021, Just Roots is partnering with Grace United Church of Christ and Good Vibes Farm to build out It Takes A Village Community Farm, a 3 acre site in Sauk Village.
